Nasim asks docs to stop frequent strike call

B-Barta-Health-20 April, Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim Saturday urged doctors to stop frequent strike call for the sake of patients’ well-being.

“Please don’t call strike now and then. If you do so, then patients die. Who will take the responsibility for the deaths,” he posed a question to doctors.
The minister was exchanging views with doctors, officials, staffs and hospital management committee members at Rajshahi Medical College auditorium at noon.
He also asked patients to refrain from assaulting doctors for their ‘mistakes.’
Mohammad Nasim promised overall improvement of the hospital. But he gave a strong warning against corruption and irregularities in the hospital. He urged doctors not to engage in lobbying.
“Of course, the hospital will be improved, but I’ll not tolerate corruption. I’ll take a prompt action if there is corruption. Please do not engage in lobbying. If you do so, I’ll stop all your privileges,” he told doctors.
The minister asked all concerned to keep the hospital and its surroundings neat and clean. He also asked the authorities concerned to immediately evict all illegal structures, including shops, around the hospital.
Among others, local lawmaker Fazle Hossain Badsha, former Rajshahi City Mayor Khairuzzaman Liton, BMA president Prof Dr Mahmud Hasan, Additional Director General of the Directorate of Health Services Prof Dr Abul Kalam Azad and Barind Multipurpose Development Authority (BMDA) Chairman Advocate Nurul Islam Thandu were present on the occasion.
While speaking, Fazle Hossain Badsha demanded arrangements so that all medical investigations can be done at state-run hospitals across the country.
